TSSAA OFFICIALLY APPROVES NEW REGIONS!
November 13, 2014
BREAKING NEWS:
The TSSAA Board of Control has officially approved the Division I regional football alignments for the 2015 and 2016 season.
One change was made to the new Region 4 that Sequatchie County and Grundy County will be a member of. Alvin C. York Institute in Jamestown successfully petitioned to be placed back in Region 4. The Dragons were originally placed in Region 2 (Knoxville area)
So the Indians Schedule the next two seasons will have the following teams.
Region 4-3A
Cannon County (Woodbury)
DeKalb County (Smithville)
Grundy County (Coalmont)
Sequatchie County (Dunlap)
Smith County (Carthage)
York Institute (Jamestown)
Upperman (Baxter)
That will now leave the Indians with (4) non-region opponents. Hopefully they can still keep Bledsoe Co., Marion Co., South Pittsburg and add Whitwell back to the schedule.
However I'm not sure you would want both South Pitt. & Whitwell on the schedule with both being 1A schools for playoff purposes I think adding one non-region game against either another 3A school or more likely a 4A school.
I think who ever will be in charge of putting together the schedule should look at one of the teams from Region 3-4. Particularly one of the four I have listed below.
Chattanooga Central (Harrison)
Cumberland County (Crossville)
Hixson (Hixson)
Stone Memorial (Crossville)

REGION 4-3A
November 8, 2014
Yesterday the TSSAA released the proposed football regions for the next two seasona 2015-2016. They are scheduled to be voted on next Thursday November 13!
Sequatchie County along with Grundy County have been slotted into Region 4! (See below)
Region 4-3A
Cannon County (Woodbury)
DeKalb Countyl (Smithville)
Grundy County (Coalmont)
Sequatchie County (Dunlap)
Smith County (Carthage)
Upperman (Baxter)
There is talk that York Institute could petition to be returned to Reg. 4 instead of Region 2 that they have been placed.
It was thought that SCHS would be placed in Region 3 (see below)
Region 3-3A
Chattanooga Christian School (Chattanooga)
East Ridge (Chattanooga)
Notre Dame (Chattanooga)
Red Bank (Chattanooga)
Signal Mountain (Signal Mountain)
The Howard School (Chattanooga)
It is my opinion that this new region is a good one for not only the Indians but Grundy County as well for number of reasons. One thing good about this is it should allow for traditional games with Bledsoe Co., Marion Co., South Pittsburg and Whitwell to continue. In case you are wondering Bledsoe County is dropping down to 2A.
Some other local Regions.
Region 3-1A
Copper Basin (Copperhill)
Grace Baptist Academy (Chattanooga)
Lookout Valley (Chattanooga)
Sale Creek (Sale Creek)
South Pittsburg (South Pittsburg)
Whitwell (Whitwell)
Region 3-2A
Bledsoe County (Pikeville)
Boyd Buchanan (Chattanooga)
Brainerd (Chattanooga)
Marion County (Jasper)
Meigs County (Decatur)
Polk County (Benton
Silverdale Baptist Academy (Chattanooga)
Tyner Academy (Chattanooga)
I can't wait to see the Indians and the new head ball coach compete for the Region 4-3A Title next fall.

Ken Colquette has resigned!
Tuesday November 4, 2014
Ken Colquette has resigned after two seasons as head coach of the Indians. Colquette, 67, was hired to as Indians Head Coach in 2013 and the Indians went (5-6) and made the the first round of the TSSAA State Playoffs (Losing @ Polk Co. 49-7). It seemed a young Indians team was ready to compete for the District 7AA title this year. However some team defections before the season even started along with injuries and youth put the team in catch up mode all season. What was expected to be fantastic season ended last Friday night at Signal Mountain (58-3) and a disappointing (3-7) season concluded.
Colquette was first successful as a head coach at Bridgeport (Ala.) before taking over at Marion County in 1980. The Warriors won four state championships, were state runners-up twice and had just one losing season in his term. During one stretch in the mid-1990s, they went 56-1.
Colquette's overall record as a Head Coach (257-94)
