Ken
Colquette has resigned after two seasons as head coach of the
Indians. Colquette, 67, was hired to as Indians Head Coach in 2013
and the Indians went (5-6) and made the the first round of the TSSAA
State Playoffs (Losing @ Polk Co. 49-7). It seemed a young Indians
team was ready to compete for the District 7AA title this year.
However some team defections before the season even started along with
injuries and youth put the team in catch up mode all season. What was
expected to be fantastic season ended last Friday night at Signal
Mountain (58-3) and a disappointing (3-7) season concluded.
Colquette
was first successful as a head coach at Bridgeport (Ala.) before taking
over at Marion County in 1980. The Warriors won four state
championships, were state runners-up twice and had just one losing
season in his term. During one stretch in the mid-1990s, they went 56-1.
Colquette's overall record as a Head Coach (257-94)
