Braves lose in last second stunner!

Friday September 9, 2011

Sequatchie jumped out to an early lead returning a SP fumble around 50-60 yards for the score to lead 6-0. South Pittsburg goes ahead in the second quarter for a 12-6 halftime lead. Neither team could get much going in the second half until late in the 4th quarter Sequatchie drives half the field and punches it in on 4th & goal from the 2 with under a minute remaining the 2 point pass was no good leaving the score tied at 12-12. South Pittsburg takes over after the kick around there own 40 yard line. A couple of quick plays later and a long run that puts them out of bounds around the 25 with around 20 seconds remaining but a facemask penalty gets it around the 15 yard line and South Pittsburg scores on pass with 13 seconds left the receiver catching the ball with three SCMS defenders around him. The 2 point try was stopped by the Braves defense short of goal line.

Braves get victory in Jasper!!

Friday September 23, 2011

The Sequatchie County Middle School Braves moved to (5-1) on the season after a 30-26 win over Jasper Middle School last night in Jasper. Jasper jumped out quick returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown but the Braves settled down and came right back taking a 8-6 lead and went to the half with a (24-20, I think that was the score) lead. The Braves managed to stretch the lead to 10 but Jasper kept fighting and chipping away and had the ball with under a minute to go and a chance to win but a long pass down field was intercepted by I believe it was (8th grader) Steven Hall to seal the victory for SCMS.

Big 4th Quarter key Braves Win!

Friday October 6, 2011

The Sequatchie Middle School Braves moved to (7-1) with a 20-6 win over Bledsoe County Middle school last night in Pikeville. BCMS got a early 1st quarter touchdown and the Braves countered with a 2nd quarter touchdown. Both teams went to the half tied (6-6) it stayed that way until the 4th quarter when the Braves finally got going scoring two touchdowns to win it (20-6). I'm not sure if that was the last game of the season for the Braves but regardless it was a great season for SCMS.

It should motivate those 8th graders moving up to the Indians next fall where they will join a solid group of former teammates and current Freshmen in forming a solid foundation for the next four years of Indians football and to those 6th & 7th graders that are returning they will likely be joined by a few classmates that are participating in the Senior Division of Little League this fall and those guys are playing some pretty good ball in there own right which should give the Braves another solid team next season.
