The Sequatchie County Indians looked like they were going to be in for a battle as the game got underway as East Literature Magnet school of Nashville looked big and fast as they took the field across from the Indians.
The Eagles of East Lit took the opening kickoff of the game and drove straight down the field on the Sequatchie County defense and scored on a 9 yard run with just under 5 minutes gone in the 1st quarter and with a two point conversion good the Eagles take a quick 8-0 lead but this is a different Sequatchie Co. team from years past. The Indians take the ensuing kickoff and march straight down the field on the East lit defense on a 6 minute drive and score on a 4 yard run by Indians quarterback Brennan Wilson the two point conversion was no good so the Eagles of East Literature lead 8-6 and the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter Sequatchie County begins turn it up as six minutes into the second quarter the Indians kicker Lupe Martinez hits a field goal from 30 yards out and the Indians take the lead 9-8 and then with just under a minute and a half left in the second quarter Wilson hooks up on a nice 23 yard fade pass in the corner of the end zone to receiver Brett Bartley for the touchdown the extra point attempt by Martinez is good and the Indians lead at the break 16-8 and that would have been enough.
The Sequatchie defense has been strong in all three games this year only allowing one offensive touchdown in each game and they really showed it in the second half against East literature only allowing the Eagles one first down and 25 yards of offense in the second half.
Brandon Ashby scores from 1 yard out and the Martinez extra point makes it 23-8 after the 3rd quarter the Indians begin rotating several players in and out in the fourth quarter and backup (junior) running back caps the night off with a hard 6 yard run to make it 29-8. That's when a bit of controversy happened for the Indian fans the extra point attempt by Martinez was good to make 30-8 but a flag on the play for defensive offsides was thrown the referee makes the motion that the penalty is declined and the kick is good so both team line up for the kickoff but before the kick another ref comes running in blowing his whistle saying the Indians have to re kick the PAT so they do and its again good but the same thing happens another flag so ball is moved in closer and a third kick is made again good and again another offsides flag on the defense so on the 4th PAT attempt the kick is blocked leaving the final score 29-8.
